FAQ
Ferroamp EmergencyPower 1P is a 2 kW inverter that can supply critical single-phase loads with electricity in the event of a power outage. The product includes an automatic backup power switch that switches selected loads between grid and backup power.
The solution can be used for Ferroamp systems with only one EnergyHub unit (EnergyHub Wall 14/21/28) and at least one battery with an ESO unit. The solution has not been tested for systems with multiple EnergyHub devices or in PowerShare networks.
The backup solution can drive all single-phase loads up to a rated power of 2 kW. However, some loads with high starting currents can cause the overcurrent protection to trip and the system will need to be manually restarted.
No. It only supports single-phase loads. A three-phase version of the product is under development.
The product has an innovative function for its own earth electrode during backup power operation that can be installed at a significantly lower cost than a conventional earth electrodes.
The product is connected to a phase on the building’s power grid, to DC distribution or PowerCase in the Ferroamp system and to the selected single-phase loads to be provided with backup. The product has an IP21 protection rating and is intended for installation indoors.
The product can be set to three different modes:
OFF – The selected loads are switched off and backup power operation is deactivated.
BYPASS – The selected loads are supplied only from external power grids, no backup power operation.
AUTO – Selected loads are automatically switched between grid and backup power.
The product also has a function for Blackstart. The system energizes and starts ESO and SSO followed by the connection of loads.
A light indication on the product shows the current operating status. Values in Ferroamp’s portal or app are not updated during backup power operation because the EnergyHub is then turned off.
Ferroamp Emergency Power 1P reads the state of charge (SOC) of the battery and shuts down if the SOC reaches 5% to prevent damage to the batteries. When the sun comes out, the system can be turned on with the black start button so that the battery can start charging again.
To reserve capacity for backup operations, set the lower limit of the SOC value in the EnergyCloud web portal to the minimum level you want to reserve for backup operations.
The product is manufactured in Sweden and supplied by Ferroamp’s partner Safevolt AB. Support and warranty are provided by Safevolt AB at info@safevolt.se.
