Full house at the DC conference

On 9 November, Ferroamp arranged the DC conference in the old reactor hall at KTH. It was a day about the future of the electricity grid and the opportunities and challenges it entails for property owners.

In the reactor hall at KTH, 25 meters below ground, the first nuclear power experiments in Sweden were carried out. In this place of energy history, we discussed the future of energy.

Under the leadership of moderator Elisif Elvinsdotter, the focus was on how electrification and the transition to renewable energy pose challenges for the electricity grid, but also opportunities for property owners.

Mats Karlström, energy expert and co-founder of Ferroamp, spoke about the changes taking place in the grid and how these, together with new technical opportunities, create a need for new business models.
Mats Balkö from Varberg Energi talked about the investment in flexibility services or support services where electricity customers can get paid to support the electricity grid.

A central part of the message was that the market is constantly changing, which is why it is important that customers have the opportunity for open flexibility.

Ferroamp’s founder and technical manager, Björn Jernström, spoke about the benefits of working with direct current as more and more large DC components are entering properties such as solar cells, electric cars and batteries.
Anna Werner from the Swedish Solar Energy Association spoke about the situation in the solar cell market and what policy changes would be desirable in order not to slow down the transition. She also spoke about the need for training and certification of installers to ensure the quality of installations.

Bodil Prising, Business Development Manager at Ferroamp, spoke about Ferroamp’s offering and collaboration with installers.

In addition to Mats Karlström and Anna Werner, Tomas Wall, chairman of Energiforsk, also participated in the concluding panel discussion. He predicts that we will soon notice the limitations of the network and the challenges it entails.
