Ferroamp enters a business strategic partnership with Powerlynk. The collaboration is about developing practical applications of bidirectional car charging.
“Our system is already adapted for bidirectional power transmission, and in combination with digital control and platform technology, a commercial opportunity is created to roll out V2H and V2G solutions on a broad front.” says Björn Jernström, founder of Ferroamp.
This spring, Ferroamp V2X was launched – an EV charger that can both charge and discharge an electric car battery so that the energy can be used to support electricity use in the property (V2H) or to contribute stability to the electricity grid (V2G).
Powerlynk develops the commercial solution for the interconnection between the electric car, the property and the electricity grid. The collaboration initially focuses on pilot projects together with selected vehicle manufacturers and building owners, where practical applications of vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-property are tested in real-world environments.
Powerlynk also participates in a research project with Kia Sweden, Lund University of Technology and Sustainable Innovation where Ferroamp is part of the reference group. The aim is to develop and verify practical applications of the technology. The experiences from the project will form the basis for future commercial roll-outs of V2H and V2G solutions in Sweden, the Nordics and Europe.
This is the beginning of a collaboration where the goal is for Ferroamp and Powerlynk to be able to offer a sustainable and safe path towards the energy system of the future in Sweden, the Nordic region and Europe, where decentralized production and storage reduces the need for large-scale nuclear power and provides increased self-sufficiency, robustness and security in the electricity grids.
“We see this as the next step in electrification – where the electric car becomes an energy resource, not just a consumer. Together, we can offer the market a true complete solution that is modular, scalable, future-proof and sustainable in the future.” says Lennart Skogh, founder and co-owner of Powerlynk AB.
